Dr. Juliana Basko-Plluska, MD, FAAD

Dr. Juliana Basko-Plluska is a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and Pathology (board-certified in Dermatology and Dermatopathology) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Basko-Plluska completed her undergraduate studies at the prestigious University of Chicago, where she was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society and graduated Suma Cum Laude in the top 1% of her class. She then went on to receive her medical degree from the elite Harvard Medical School, followed by an internship in Internal Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Subsequently, she returned to the University of Chicago Hospitals, where she completed her residency in Dermatology, serving as a Chief Resident during her last year, and fellowship in Dermatopathology.

Upon finishing her training, Dr. Basko-Plluska remained on staff at the University of Chicago, where she now serves as a Clinical Associate, teaching young dermatologists how to best serve their future patients while utilizing cutting-edge technology.

Dr. Basko-Plluska is academically very accomplished. She has published numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed papers as well as lectured at various nationwide conferences. She serves on the editorial board of several medical journals and on the University of Chicago Alumni Council of the Medical and Biological Sciences Alumni Association. She maintains an affiliation with numerous professional societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, the Chicago Dermatological Society, the Illinois Dermatological Society, and the American Society of Dermatopathology.

While the scope of her clinical practice is broad, her special interests include melanocytic biology (the study of moles and melanoma), skin cancer prevention and management, and autoimmune skin disorders. Dr. Basko-Plluska’s training in Dermatopathology enables her to have a more in-depth understanding of the various skin conditions which then leads to a more accurate diagnosis for her patients. Such skills set her apart from her peers and make her one of the most qualified dermatologists in the Naperville area.
