Dr. Shanthi Prakash was born in Kerala state in India. Pursuing her interest in medicine, she graduated with honors from Calicut Medical College in 1984. Following her graduation, she completed her Opthalmology residency in Kasturba Medical College, Manipal. Subsequently, Dr. Prakash moved to the United Kingdom with her family and focused on raising her children. After moving to the United States and while focusing on raising the children, Dr. Prakash participated in clinical externships and observations in family medicine.
Later, Dr. Shanthi Prakash completed her residency in Family Medicine at Mount Sinai-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
Dr. Prakash also received her board certification in Family Medicine. She worked in urgent care clinics in Parsippany and Chester, NJ before moving down to Sarasota with her family in 2002. Both Drs. Soordal and Shanthi Prakash set up and opened their private practice later that year. Like her husband, Dr. Shanthi Prakash holds privileges in both Sarasota Memorial Hospital and Doctors Hospital.
Both Drs. Soordal and Shanthi Prakash are clinical assistant professors with the Florida State University College of Medicine.
