Dr. Salvatore J. Pacella, MD, FACS

I have had the privilege of working extensively with Dr Pacella while Resident Surgeons at The University of Michigan Health System from 2003-2007. During that time he and I worked extensively together in all aspects of delivering care to patients in a large, extremely busy, tertiary care, University-based setting. Our responisbilities were not only to provide the highest level of care to our patients, but also to function in significant professional responsibilities within one of the foremost Departments of Surgery and Plastic Surgery in the United States. these included significant educational activities locally and nationally, significant administrative duties to maintain the day-to day operations necessary to maintain our reputation as some of the hardest-working, most diligent, competent, and responsible physicians in the University of Michigan Health System. In the capacities described above, Dr Pacella excelled. In his tenure at the University of Michigan, he developed a reputation for being one of the best resident surgeons at the institution, and this reputation has maintained itself following his departure. He remains a standard by which others are judged. His ability to balance professional, medical, and personal responsibilities is enviable. Furthermore, his drive to excel is evident by his personal sacrifice to take 2 years during a lengthy training program to become fluent in business and practical aspects of delivering health care by obtaining a prestigious Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan – one of the top business schools in the United States. In my opinion, shared by everyone who has had the privilege to know Dr Pacella, is that he will no doubt become a leader in the specialty of Plastic Surgery, but also a leader in local and national societies where he will undoubtedly make great contributions to the delivery of health care.
