I have known Dr. Kanaris for about 20 years in several contexts: through membership at the APA, NYSPA, and SCPA where he has held many leadership roles, on a professional level in as much as we both have offices in Long Island and have maintained professional contact, and on a personal level at several social events.
Peter strikes me as one of the most competent psychologists I know and have known over a career spanning almost 40 years. He has a solid academic foundation, is well- read and keeps his acumen up to date. He is astute, sharp, a thinker, writes well, and a gentleman of integrity and honor. Passionate in his work, he places first and foremost the needs of his patients and is kind with his peers and has a terrific inviting smile, engaging approach, and just the right touch of sense of humor.
Peter has gone the extra mile when I have asked him to attend events and make presentations.
Knowing him has been a privilege. When you interact with him, know that you have one of the best.
