Paul Salem, MD, is a fellowship-trained, board-certified General and Bariatric Surgeon specializing in Minimally-Invasive Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He is also board-certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Salem conducted his medical training at some of the most highly regarded institutions in the United States, including completing his Doctor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota; General Surgery Residency at Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts; and Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Fellowship at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts.
Outside of healthcare, Dr. Salem is an accomplished veteran having served as United States Marine in Iraq. Combat deployment inspired him to pursue a career as a physician and instilled a strong sense of purpose, discipline, integrity, and attention to detail that carried through to his medical training and practice today. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Evolutionary Anthropology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, prior to attending Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
Dr. Salem is admired among his colleagues and patients for his thoughtful care, compassionate demeanor, and for going above and beyond to fulfill the needs of his patients. He has also received numerous teaching and mentorship awards and is a proud husband and father.
Dr. Salem’s surgical expertise is performing laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, roux-en-Y gastric bypass, duodenal switch, and single-anastomosis duodenal-ileal bypass with sleeve (SADI-S) procedures.
He is accepting new patients and accepts all major insurance plans, including Medicare.
