Dr. Mel Rosenblatt is a vascular and interventional radiologist specializing in the proper diagnosis and minimally invasive treatment of conditions including venous and arterial disease, particularly in their most complex forms. The first in Connecticut to perform endovenous laser ablation and endovenous radiofrequency ablation, he continues to pioneer and improve diagnosis and treatment of venous disease in all its incarnations.
Dr. Rosenblatt derives the greatest satisfaction from taking care of his patients. His goal is to provide them with the highest level of expertise, as well as continuity of care, bringing to bear years of experience at Yale University School of Medicine and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Availability to his patients is of paramount importance to him and rapid responsiveness is one of the hallmarks of his practice. After earning his MD at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, Dr. Rosenblatt completed his residency at the Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, followed by a fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. He is board certified in Radiology and Interventional Radiology, certificated in Phlebology, and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Interventional Radiology.
Pursuing his commitment to improving the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease, Dr. Rosenblatt is a leader in both research and physician education. He designed and patented a revolutionary chemotherapy access port and is in the process of patenting other devices. He has published numerous papers and book chapters and remains deeply involved in ongoing trials. Most recently, he co-authored a consensus paper of the prestigious International Union of Angiology on the management of arteriovenous malformations.
Dr. Rosenblatt is a frequent speaker and invited lecturer at meetings of the American College of Phlebology (ACP) and the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), among other conferences and forums. He has served in many roles in the ACP as a member of the board of directors and chair of educational committees. Currently, he serves as president of the ACP. He continues to be an active member of both organizations as well as of the Radiological Society of North America and the American Medical Association.
