For the past 30 years I have been referring patients suffering from a variety of skin ailments to Dr. Ken Landow. Not only does he provide superior diagnostic skill and care, but my patients uniformly report actually enjoying the experience. They claim that in spite of their aggravating skin conditions, he was able to uplift their spirits and make them laugh. Everyone seems amazed at his breadth of knowledge not just of dermatology but of medicine in general. Many patients recognize him from his informative, long running medical broadcasts on radio and television. Just recently, I referred two patients with unusually severe skin problems to Dr. Landow. They both received prompt care from him and dramatically improved after only one visit.

I highly respect Dr. Landow as a knowledgeable, caring physician who puts his patients first. I do not know of anyone who as as well-versed in the literature of both Dermatology and General Medicine. His recommendations are always backed up by the current medical knowledge and sound clinical judgement. And on top of that he also a fun, caring person who connects well with people. As background I am a rheumatologist and a clinical professor of medicine at UCLA. Dr. Landow is simply the best diagnostic dermatologist I know and in my teaching at UCLA and my practice in Los Angeles I have known many many dermatologists. I routinely send my most challenging diagnostic cases to Ken and he has yet to fail me. Ken combines a brilliant mind with sound clinical judgment honed by the overwhelming caseloads at LA County USC Medical Center. His superb grasp of general medicine and current developments is attested to by colleagues below and can be easily seen in the radio, TV and newspaper columns that he has produced over the years. He wrote a handbook on dermatology many years ago that I still consult periodically for the concise and effective treatments he proposes for many common conditions. Ken is a gem and a credit to our profession. He has my highest and fondest esteem.

I consider Ken Landow probably the most knowledgeable practicing fellow practitioner I have ever known. He not only has a mastery of the textbooks but also literature, medical economics, and patient care. As a diagnostician he is exemplary. It is not often a general surgeon would recommend a dermatologist for his ability as a specialized surgeon yet I must.
