After graduating from Tulane in 1983 he received his dental degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in 1987. He was then accepted to a two year hospital based residency where he obtained advanced training in oral surgery, implant dentistry, intravenous sedation, and comprehensive rehabilitation and restorative dentistry.
In 1995 he received advanced surgical implant training through the University of Miami School of Medicine. He continued his implant training by completed the Surgical Program at The Misch International Implant Institute.
He is also certified in a number of new dental technologies, such as Diode Laser for gingival and tissue contouring, Oral Conscious Sedation (Sleep Dentistry), the Cerec 3D CAD-CAM system for in office ceramic restorations and Invisalign orthodontics.
He received acknowledgment for Advanced Education in Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry as well as Functional Anterior Esthetics (Smile Design) through the Hornbrook group at the University of Texas, Houston Dental Branch.
Dr. Aguilar is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Laser Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the American Dental Association, the Louisiana Dental Association, the New Orleans Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Hispanic Dental Society and he is a Crown Council Dentist.
Born in Chicago he has been resident of New Orleans since 1977. Proud to consider himself a native New Orleanian he lives in the city with his family.
