Dr. John Withers grew up in Fort Worth. He earned his undergraduate degree from North Texas State University (now UNT) in 1974 where he was also a letterman in football.
He attended Baylor College of Dentistry and graduated in June of 1980. On August 5, 1980 he opened his private dental practice in Denton. He is a former member of the Clinical Faculty for the Texas Women’s School of Dental Hygiene.
He is a past President of the Texas Dental Association’s Fourth District and the Denton County Dental Society. He also served as a Delegate to the Texas Dental Association’s House of Delegates for many years.
Dr. Withers founded and organized the Denton Dental Study Club in 1983 and remains a member. He is also a member of the Seattle Study Club of Dallas, a branch of the prestigious Seattle Study Club.
Dr. Withers received his Fellowship from The Academy of General Dentistry in 1986 and is an alumnus of the prestigious L.D. Pankey Institute for Continuing Dental Education and the Schuster Center.
Dr. Withers is married. He and Melba have four married children and five grandchildren who all live here in Denton County. Spending time with his family is his favorite pastime, especially on game days for UNT, Baylor, the Cowboys, or the Rangers.
He enjoys playing golf, hunting, and snow skiing. He coached youth baseball, basketball, and soccer in Denton for thirteen years when his sons, John, Jr. and Jeffrey were growing up.
