Dr. Kagan is the visionary founder of Dental Care of Boca Raton. He decided to become a dentist at the ripe old age of 4, after himself having three very emotional and personal dental experiences. First he had an episode of severe toothache pain while he was in bed with high fever from a childhood illness. Since he could not leave the house, a very kind and compassionate Dentist came to his bedside and placed a sedative temporary filling, relieving his pain. Several weeks later he had to see the dentist to have the bad tooth removed, and young Dr. Kagan had an extremely horrifying, fearful and vivid dream while deeply under anesthesia. Ever since that day in 1961, he decided he would become a dentist to prevent anyone from ever having to have to experience dental pain, fear, anxiety or distress ever again. So for over the last 6 decades Dr. Kagan has made his life completely about first becoming that dentist, and then perfecting the art, science and craft of dentistry so that his patients would never have to suffer needlessly, as he did as a very young child.
Dr. Kagan has personally examined over three million teeth, invested over two million dollars and almost 20,000 hours studying with the finest, wisest and most exceptional and talented dentists from all over the world, to further his postgraduate dental education, and building and equipping his dental practices, all to this end; the pursuit of his lifelong dream and goal of creating a pleasant, comfortable and relaxing dental experience for all of his patients. His dental philosophy is a minimally invasive, maximally caring, patient-centric and a highly conservative approach to dentistry. At every point, patient’s natural enamel and structures are valued above all else. Each of the handpicked Dentists not only believe in this philosophy and approach, but are highly competent at providing this outstanding level of care to all of the patients at Dental Care of Boca Raton. Dr. Kagan has been featured on CNN, MSNBC, WPTV, Channel 5-West Palm Beach, WFOR-TV, CBS-Miami, WPLG-TV and Channel 10-Miami, TV news for numerous advances in technology in dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Kagan has been featured in numerous print publications, including Palm Beach Post, Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel, Boca Raton News, and West Boca Times. In 1999, he was named “Best Dentist in Boca Raton.” Originally from New Jersey, Dr. Kagan holds a BS in Microbiology from the University of Maryland, and received his Dental Degree from the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey ( Now The Rutgers College of Dental Medicine). He has spent his entire career, since 1983 practicing in South Florida. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry of and an alumnus of The Pankey Institute, (a world-renowned institute for the highest quality of patient care and higher dental education). Additionally, Dr. Kagan is a member of the American and Florida Academies of Cosmetic Dentistry, the ADA, Florida Dental Association, American Academy of Gold Foil Operators, Atlantic Coast District Dental Association, South Palm Beach County Dental Society, and the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation.
When not working Dr. Kagan enjoys spending time with his all of his family but especially his wife Juli, (who has been his constant support, companion and source of inspiration for over 40 years) a Yogi and Pilates maven and teacher, dental hygienist and educator since the 1980’s and their son, Zachary, who has a BS in Electrical Engineering, a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in Neural Engineering , and now educates Neurosurgeons worldwide on the implantable pain control device made by the medical company he works for, in the Bay Area of California.
Dr. Kagan’s hobbies including learning about and practicing dentistry, traveling to new, different and interesting places here in the US, and countries all over the globe (now approaching 90 and counting) and doing yoga, biking and rollerblading at the beach. Dr Kagan, his wife Juli, and son Zachary are all published authors!
