I first met Dr. Weir while he was an undergraduate dental student and I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics at Indiana university. I got to know him really well as his periodontal adviser during his periodontal rotation after his graduation, during his General Practice Residency. Doug was always concerned about his patients’ well being and what he could do to deliver the absolute best care for them, ensuring that they got the ideal result. Because of his inquiring mind and pursuit of excellence I was not at all surprised when he went on to pursue post-graduate dental studies, graduating with a degree in the specialty of Prosthodontics. We have kept in contact over the years, and he has been to Arizona on several occasions both for continuing education and to lecture. I have also personally visited his office in Indiana for a week to learn from him the intricacies of his specialty and to observe him treating patients–an eye-opening experience! Dr. Weir is, without doubt, a consummate professional in his field, and his patients are the beneficiaries of his skills, wisdom, attention to detail, and personal care.
