Dr. Hecht is the Chief of Spine Surgery for the Mount Sinai Health System and Chief of Spine Surgery at the Mount Sinai Hospital. He also serves as Director of the Spine Center of Mount Sinai Doctors, the Faculty Practice, and Associate Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and of Neurologic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Hecht is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Harvard Medical School as well as a trauma fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Hecht completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Emory University Spine Center. Dr. Hecht holds dual appointments in orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery.
Dr. Hecht is the spine surgical consultant to the New York Jets, New York Islanders, and New York Dragons professional teams, as well as numerous collegiate teams at Hofstra University and Molloy College. Dr. Hecht is the Director of the NFL Spine Care Program for retired players at Mount Sinai (one of five sites across the country) and is the only orthopaedic spine surgeon in the northeast to be a part of this program. He also directs the acute spinal injury program for the NY jets. Dr. Hecht is only one of two orthopaedic surgeons of the NFL Brain and Spine Committee.
