About
Dr Atwal is the medical director of a busy family practice clinic. She is a compassionate and caring Family Physician with over 20 years experience. She was born in London, England and raised in Calgary, Alberta. She was enrolled in an undergraduate degree in Cellular, Molecular, Microbial Biology ad Genetics prior to being accepted into medical school at the University of Calgary. She completed her medical doctorate and she received an award in her last year for the best medical dictations in her clinical clerkship at Foothills Hospital. Dr Atwal completed her residency in Family and Community Medicine at the University Hospital at the University of Western Ontario in London, Ontario. Her training was part of the London Health Sciences Center. Dr. Atwal is a certificant of the Canadian College of Family Physicians and a licenciate of the Medical Council of Canada. She is in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. She holds memberships with the World Organization of Family Doctors, the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Federation of Medical Women of Canada. She is a member of the Canadian Society of Physician Leaders and a member of the Coalition of Ontario Doctors. She is also a member of the Ontario Medical Association, the section on General and Family Practice and the Canadian Medical Association. Lastly, she is a member of the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators in which professionals provide independent legal and clinical legal evaluations. Dr Atwal has gained extensive experience in women's health, pediatrics, cardiology, blood pressure, cholesterol and diabetes management. She is committed to providing high quality, evidence-based care using current practice guidelines. Besides serving as a clinical supervisor for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, Dr. Atwal has also taken on the role as a physician supervisor for Remicade clinical trials. She is involved in teaching medical students and she is a member of the Canadian Society for Medical Education. She is also a contributor to the Doctors Without Borders/Medecin Sans Frontieres, Unicef Canada and to the World Health Organization Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund through the United Nations.
