Dr. Copeland is a native of Union, Missouri, which is just west of St. Louis. Dr. Copeland completed his bachelor degrees in biology and psychology at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He then attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Dentistry. He completed a hospital based dental residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
In 2010, Dr. Copeland recieved a certificate of recognition from the American Dental Association for service in Guatemala and Zambia.
