Dr. Jocelyn Lieb, MD

Dr. Jocelyn Lieb, a Staten Island native, received her Bachelor of Science degree in biological sciences from SUNY Buffalo and her Medical Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. While at SUNY Buffalo, she was a member of The Golden Key Honor Society, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, and graduated magna cum laude in 2000. She went on to graduate in the top of her medical school class in 2004.

During her medical school years in Boston, she became involved in exciting research at the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard University, studying the genomes of specific benign and cancerous skin tumors. After graduating with her medical degree, she completed a one-year research fellowship where she continued her research studies. During that year, she also had the opportunity to work weekly alongside Dr. Thomas Kupper seeing patients with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma and other rare skin cancers at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Lieb subsequently returned to New York and completed her internal medicine internship at The Mount Sinai Hospital. Following her internship, she was accepted into a research fellowship where she helped perform pivotal research in dermoscopy and confocal microscopy. A dermatoscope is a combination of very specialized magnifying lenses coupled with polarized and non-polarized light, allowing dermatologists to see structures in the skin, rather than simply on the skin. This tool has allowed dermatologists to reduce the number of unnecessary skin biopsies on their patients.

In 2007, Dr. Lieb began her dermatology residency at Columbia University School of Medicine. During this three-year training program, she gained experience in both adult and pediatric dermatology, as well as cutaneous oncology, rheumatology, cosmetic and surgical dermatology.

Dr. Lieb is board certified in dermatology, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the New Jersey Dermatologic Society. Dr. Lieb remains an Assistant Professor at The New York Presbyterian Medical Center of Columbia University, as well as a Staff Dermatologist at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
