Dr. Michael McSwain is a native of Memphis. He earned his B.S. degree, cum laude, from Memphis State University (now University of Memphis), and completed medical school at the University of Tennessee. He graduated in 1977, and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He served as an intern at Methodist Hospital in Memphis, where he also trained as a resident in surgery. He completed his residency in urology at the University of Tennessee.

Dr. McSwain is currently a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Urology at the University of Tennessee. He has been in private practice in Memphis since 1983. He is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
